2009-2010 club president Emily Scotton and 2010-2011 president Molly Duffy recap ECG Interact past events and future plans for 400 Rotarians at the Rotary District 7690 Conference in Asheville, NC in May 2010.

A Brief Club History

The Interact Club of the Early College at Guilford (ECG) installed 20 charter members and celebrated the grant of its charter from Rotary International at a banquet at Guilford College on February 5, 2009.

Students formed the Interact Club on September 22, 2008 to implement local and international service projects to address human needs and advance international understanding and goodwill.  Interact is a part of Rotary International, and the club is sponsored by Summit Rotary.

To date, the club has helped with local environmental cleanups, Salvation Army bell ringing stations, and produced a talent show, "ECG’s Got Talent!” to raise funds for "Pwoje Espwa" (Creole for "Project Hope"), a school and orphanage in Southern Haiti.

Showcasing the talents of friends and students of the Early College at Guilford (ECG), the show "ECG's Got Talent!" was held at Guilford College on February 27, 2009.  The show raised over $900 to benefit Pwoje Espwa (Creole for "Project Hope"), an orphanage and K-12 school in southern Haiti.

The idea of holding a talent show was sparked by the talent shows (or "spectaks," as they say in Haitian Creole) often put on by students at Pwoje Espwa.  The ECG event was produced by the Interact Club of the Early College at Guilford, as their first international service project.

Nineteen acts competed for prizes donated by Starbucks, Elizabeth's Pizza, and Solaris.  Special thanks to our judges, Greensboro Mayor Yvonne Johnson, Guilford College music alumna Courtney Shaw, and News 14 reporter Stephanie Stillwell.  Many thanks also to those onstage and everyone behind the scenes for making this a success.

Second Annual Talent Show!!!

The ECG Interact Club held its 2nd annual talent show on April 3, 2010 at Dana Auditorium on the campus of Guilford College.  A large and enthusiastic crowd turned out to sample ECG talent and support Pwoje Espwa, a school and orphanage in Southern Haiti.  The event raised over $900.  For more photos go to Photo Gallery, or click here
